Edamame Burger with Wasabi and Ginger
I’m finally stepping out of hiding on this not so lovely but actually rather cloudy Sunday afternoon to say hello and to acknowledge the fact that starting tomorrow I have to start taking this impending half marathon thing seriously (the hotel room has now been booked).
I’m Jordan (lazyjane-), and you can usually find me bumming around Boston. Please note the term “bumming.” Like the title of this Tumblr suggests, I literally cannot jog a mile. I can jog for three minutes straight on a good day.
I do much better nutritionally, though I’m far from perfect. I went from a sweet tea drinking, fried chicken eating Southerner to someone who obsessively reads ingredient lists and refuses to purchase anything with sugar (or its equivalents) unnecessarily added. If it’s a cake, I will allow for sugar. If it’s salad dressing, no. I mostly eat oatmeal, natural peanut butter, baby spinach, and bananas. I drink tons of milk and black coffee. But, unfortunately, some days I do things like eat 3 pieces of Sal’s pizza and cookies for lunch.
My goals are 1) learn how to prepare healthy and protein-heavy food for one person without overspending and 2) make my Monday-Friday appearances at the gym to train for the Wine & Dine marathon. With any luck, I’ll drop approximately 15 pounds in the process (I’m around 145 pounds at the moment) and the pudge that hangs around my middle area.
You can also find me over at MyFitnessPal, username Jordanleeeeee.
Frozen Creamed Spinach. May sound silly, but this stuff is fucking amazing. Pair it with Trader Joe’s Guiltless Tortilla chips, and you got yourself some instant Spinach dip that tastes amazing, is barely any calories, and offers TONS of fiber and several servings of vegetables.
Birdseye…
Hello, tumblees!
If you guys are anything like Jordan and I, you often make lofty New Years Resolutions with great intentions but allow them to go to the wayside after only a few weeks. Also, if you are like most people, one of your resolutions involves losing a pound or two, or at least getting into a bit better shape. However, setting a strict number goal or, even worse, an ambiguous “get fitter” just sets yourself up for failure. So, finally, we have gotten smart. We’ve gotten specific. Instead of aiming for “better shape” or “X pounds,” we’re fighting for a new experience that we can be proud of:
A HALF MARATHON!
Some of you who are avid runners may find this goal laughable, but for Jordan (http://lazyjane-.tumblr.com) and I (http://fatfashionistadiary.tumblr.com) accomplishing this would be quite a feat. While we’re both dramatically different in size and shape, we share an inability to run for more than a few minutes (or even an entire mile) without huffing/puffing/wanting to puke/wanting to kill ourselves.
It’s time for us to get in shape! It’s time for us to lose weight! It’s time for us to give ourselves an excuse to go TO DISNEY WORLD! Yes, you heard me right, DISNEY WORLD.
We’ve decided to become one of Remy’s Racers and run in the Food and Wine Half-Marathon next October, giving us plenty of time to train, diet, get stronger, and make sure that we make ourselves (and all of you) proud. Thirteen point one miles in a half-marathon, and right now we can run zero. ZERO.
So, get ready tumblees. We will be posting our running logs, our ipod playlists, our weekly weigh-ins, our food journals, and bitching quite a bit about how miserable running while only eating egg whites feels. Be prepared for this blog to be flooded with images of strong women, really cute clothes we want to wear, and, maybe, the occasional Mickey Mouse.
Now, you only have to ask yourself one question: Are you ready to join us?
